I watched “Paper Heart” this weekend. When i saw the trailers on TV it seemed like it was going to be a pretty good documentary. After watching it, I find it to be a mix of both good and bad interesting. It was a bit weird, awkward, and pleasant all at the same time.

I liked Charlyne Yi’s interviews better than the parts of the film that showed her relationship with Michael Cera. I can’t tell if they were really in a relationship, or if they were just acting for the movie. I’m kind of over Michael Cera now; he acts the same in all of his movies and it’s getting pretty tiresome.
As for the concept of the movie, it’s a great concept, but the movie didn’t really do the concept justice. The movie could have been a lot better, parts of it were a bit disappointing. Basically, Charlyne doesn’t believe in love and so she travels the country in search of people who know what love is and try to convince her of it. I like that she interviewed a whole range of peoples’ opinions about love; from little kids on the playground to divorcees, to couples who have been together for 60 years, to scientists and college professors. She should have ran with that idea. I could use a little less awkward on screen moments with her and Michael Cera, and her and her director friend.
On a side note, I’m still updating or trying to fix things like the comments on my blog.
