Well, right now, I’m bored out of my mind waiting for my stupid animation exercise to render out. It’s taking forever!!! So, I’ve decided to write in here.
Yesterday I went to NYC to watch Wicked with some of my friends. It was great! I met up with diana before for lunch at Applebee’s. I was hoping that we’d go somewhere different, but they didn’t want to. Diana got me a rose… aw… hehe… So yes, the play is wonderful! My favorite songs are “I’m Not That Girl” and “Defying Gravity.” I have decided that I’m Elphaba. Hehe…I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, for those of you who have not seen it yet, but this is so much better than the actual Wizard of Oz! I have to admit, I think Wicked was the best musical that I’ve seen. Even over Rent!
I was very very very pleased. I would go see it again!
For those who do not want to be told about the movie, don’t read any farther!!

In Wicked, Elphaba has to take care of her sister, Nessarose, who is in a wheelchair. The “better-loved” of the sister, Nessarose gets a pair of silver shoes (hint, hint- the ruby slippers) from their father. Their mother died giving birth to Nessarose, who came early from too much milkweed, which was used to make sure that she didn’t come out green like Elphaba. At Gizz, Glinda and Elphaba are best friends in college. “Gah-linda” (Glinda) falls for this arrogant guy, Fiyero. But then, so does Elphaba; which is where “I’m Not That Girl” comes in. It turns out that because she is already so powerful, the Wizard wants Elphaba to be “wicked” so that he has an “enemy.” And gives her a book, where she creates her flying monkeys. Since the wizard and the press secretary (Madame Morrible) want Elphaba to be the enemy, they begin the rumor that she is the Wicked Witch of the West.
She uses the book of spells for good. To get her sister out of her wheelchair, Elphaba casts a spell, which makes her walk, and in turn, changes the silver shoes to ruby. Because Nessarose thinks that this munchikin, Boq, is her soulmate, even though he worships Glinda, she becomes angry when he tries to leave her and casts a spell to take away his heart. Elphaba tries to help him by making him sleep. (He becomes the Tinman). When he wakes he joins the hunt to kill the Wicked Witch of the West, along with the Cowardly Lion, that was the lion cub that Elphaba saved (but because she wouldn’t let him fight his own battle when he was young, he became a coward). To get Elphaba to come back to Oz, Glinda suggests to use Nessarose as bait to the Wizard and Madame Morrible. They cause the house (the one that carries Dorothy) to land on top of Nessarose. All Elphaba wants were the ruby slippers, the only things that she had to remember her sister by. But Dorothy has them. This lures Elphaba, where she becomes in danger of being captured by guards. Luckily, Fiyero, who truely loves her and not Glinda, saves her by threatening to kill Glinda. Elphaba gets away, but Fiyero is captured. In love with Fiyero, Elphaba saves him, by trying a spell so that if he is beaten, he won’t feel it. (This turns him into a scarecrow).
Elphaba gives the spell book to Glinda just before the castle which she is hidden in is taken over by Dorothy and the citizens of Oz. Thus ensues the battle at the end of the Wizard of Oz.
This next part is one of the other best parts of the play. Fiyero, the scarecrow, comes back, and pounds on the ground (as if out of anger for the death of his love, Elphaba). Instead, out comes Elphaba, alive and well! They leave Oz and live happily ever after!
